Typhoon Mina seriously threatens Northern Luzon - PAGASA

    Typhoon Mina (Bagyong Mina) has continued to intensify and seriously threatens Northern Luzon, the PAGASA said Friday.

    According to its latest bulletin, Typhoon Mina (International name: Nanmadol) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 150 km East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora (16.9°N, 123.7°E ). The weather disturbance is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph. It is moving at a Northwest direction at a slow rate of 9 kph.

    Public Storm Warning Signals have been hoisted over the following areas:

    Signal No.3 (100-185 kph winds)

    Isabela
    Cagayan
    Calayan
    Babuyan Group of Island

    Signal No. 2 (60-100 kph winds)
    Northern Aurora
    Quirino
    Ifugao
    Mt. Province
    Kalinga
    Apayao
    Batanes Group of Island

    Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds)
    Rest of Aurora
    Nueva Vizcaya
    Benguet
    Ilocos Sur
    Ilocos Norte
    Abra

    The state weather bureau warns residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals, Southern Luzon and Visayas of possible flashfloods and landslides. Those living in coastal areas are also alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.
